Marres Projects invited twelve designers and architects, all recently graduated from the TU Delft or the Design Academy Eindhoven, to do research on the Plenkertstraat and its surroundings. After an extensive research programme with workshops by, amongst others, Maurer United Architects, the designers and architects presented a first vision on October 14, 2011. A jury comprised of Mayor Eurlings (Valkenburg aan de Geul), Jan Antonides, Gijs Bakker, Guus Beumer, Erik Kaptein and Bart Mennens analysed the different visions and voted for three ideas that would be further developed in a second phase of the project.
